QUESTIONS ABOUT NANTUCKET YOGA? WE’VE GOT ANSWERS…
what do i need to bring and wear?
Nantucket Yoga provides mats for classes held at the studio, but you are welcome to bring your own. There is bottled water outside the studio.
Practically speaking, the best clothing to wear depends on the type of class you are attending. If you are going to a vinyasa class or a Bikram (hot) yoga class, you are going to sweat, so you should wear clothing that wicks away sweat (similar to what you would wear to go running).
Baggy T-shirts are fine for guys, but women should wear tight fitting top so that when you are in an inversion (like shoulder stand), your top doesn’t come down over your head. I often see women trying to pull their tops up in shoulder stand because they don’t want their stomachs showing — this can be dangerous.
Wear quick drying capri or full length pants; this will help your instructor check your alignment.
If you’re going to RESTORATIVE yoga, you can wear your pjs.
how do i sign up for a class?
Jessica holds classes in four different studio locations. You can register directly with the studio. View the class schedule.

how far in advance can i sign up for class?
The sign up for class usually opens up one month in advance. In the Summer months (June-Sept), classes tend to fill up pretty quickly, so you’ll want to register for your classes as soon as possible.
how do I know if I’ve been moved off of the wait list?
If you are moved off the wait list and into class, you will receive an email by the end of the day.
You can always still show up and if there is an empty mat at the start of class, it is yours!
will i be charged if i am on the wait list and am not added to class?
No. if you are not added from the wait list, you will not be charged. however, if you do receive an email that you have been added to class off of the wait list and choose not to attend, that will be considered a “late cancel” and you will be charged. We encourage all students to take themselves off the wait list if they know they will not be able to attend.
will i be penalized for canceling my reservation?
If you cancel your reservation within 24 hours of your assigned class, it is considered a “late cancel” and you will be charged for the class. If you cancel outside of the 24 hour period, you will not be charged and that class will be returned to your account for future use.
Private sessions must be cancelled within 24 hours – no exceptions.
can I do yoga if I am pregnant?
Yes you can. Yoga is appropriate for women in all stages of pregnancy.
Please arrive a few minutes early so you can talk to your instructor about any modifications you may need to make. If you are pregnant and want a private, I am certified and can accommodate both pre + post natal.
do i need to be flexible?
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me this, I’d be rich. No, you don’t have to be flexible. The yoga pose is not the goal. Becoming flexible is not the goal. Standing on your hands is not the goal. The GOAL is to create space where you were once stuck; to unravel the layers of protection you’ve built around your heart. To appreciate your body and become aware of the mind and the noise it creates. To make peace with who you are. The goal is LOVE.
do you teach private yoga for large parties?
Yes. All the time. Call in advance.
