I just finished a 21 day Ayurvedic cleanse with an on island Ayurvedic practitioner, Sheri Perelman. When I initially signed up, I didn’t really know what the program was going to entail, but I did know that I wanted to feel more energized and really wanted to learn how to take more time to care for myself. It was a challenging experience, but I can honestly say that I have never felt better!
I seriously would never have succeeded if it weren’t for my small group that supported each other as we moved through the detoxification process. Plus, we kind of did some unfamiliar shit (to me anyway), so it helped to check in and be like, wait, are we really doing this?! YES! Yes, we are.
I LOVED learning to take the time to care of myself every morning and every evening.
I reestablished the relationship that I have with food and my body, which was a long time coming.
Since the cleanse has ended, I’ve been taking time to prepare my meals every day and evening and making sure that each one is nutritious and balanced. I’ve also continued to body brush every day in the morning (you want to avoid using a body brush at night) and I also continue to use the neti-pot every other day and tongue scraper daily.
I really recommend that you take this online quiz to learn your dosha and then investigate Ayurvedic cleanses in your area. They are usually offered seasonally; in the Spring and Fall.
I will definitely be doing this again come Fall – Although, next time I might do it in a controlled environment like Kriplau where they offer a Kitchari bar all day, err day.
